What to do when you feel low?

Many times we might feel low. People living alone or people preparing for any kind of exam, who have isolated themselves may know what I’m talking about. It becomes a lot difficult to maintain consistency in your work, focus on your goals and daily tasks.

Observe yourself and try to detect the problem.

Ask yourself, Are you missing family or friends? Are you not motivated enough to complete your particular task? If you are able to answer your questions then well and good otherwise you can take help of the tips listed below to uplift your mood.

  1. Take a shower- This may sound weird but it can work like magic. Use your favorite body/shower gel and relax. When we feel low our body usually resists every motion so to start with a bath or shower is the best step. It can switch on the active mode of your body.

  2. Dress up- Find the best dress from your wardrobe and wear it. This little act may give you joy and you can feel good. Also don’t forget to take pictures.

  3. Go for a walk alone- Spending some ‘me time’ with yourself could be of great help. Look around and feel the breeze.

  4. Call your parents/siblings - When we are away from family, we are a little lost! So just to reconnect with your surroundings, call your parents and talk about your day or maybe what they had for dinner or you can have family gossip topics and so on..  If you have a younger sibling you already have a blessing, calling your siblings and irritating them and you know teasing each other could uplift your mood.

  5. Eat your favorite dish- Eating good food that too of your choice can do wonders. There are days when you are consistently eating bad food, which may be the cause of your irritation or low energy mind. Therefore to overcome this eat your favorite cuisine or dessert or have the drink of your choice. For instance- when I’m at a low state I eat a corn cheese burger and cheesy fries and then everyone can see what a happy girl I become. Order a pastry for yourself or a jar cake and see your happiness.

  6. Step out with your friends- Sitting at home in one room will not do any good to you. Reach out to your friends for a long drive, ride or even a walk with them can fix your mood. At times the silliest thing can make you laugh and change your whole thought process. And if you are in a long distance friendship like me then video your pals and tell them to sing a song for you;)

All the above tips are to be used when you are gloomy for a short period of time. But if this continues for a long time then consult a professional.

If you are a daily reader of my blog posts then you know I add a bonus point at the end of my blogs :) so here it is-

For once, close the door of your room and dance on your favorite party song or whichever song you like. The whole idea of this blog post is to make you feel good so use hit and try methods and see what works for you. Identify yourself as introvert, extrovert or ambivert and try to select the most suitable option for you.
