Struggling with Consistency??
We all know this in some way or the other that success ask for three core elements which are-
1) Planning
2) Consistency
3) Hard work
Today through this blog I’ll touch upon consistency, A quality which everyone looks
“ with star eyes” but often fail to inculcate it in their routine.
CONSISTENCY IS BEAUTIFUL
The tips mentioned below are tried and tested on myself and I realised- you need to follow these tips for 15 days or 1 month only (forcefully) after that all your habits will be incorporated in your routine so deeply that you won’t be able to miss any even if you want to, your mind will constantly remind you to perform the task.
All this is sounding so cool but the question in your mind is again- how will you be consistent for 15 days or 1 month ?
So these tips and tricks will help you to be consistent given the scenario you follow them.
- Acknowledgement
Firstly, acknowledge and accept the things or habits or even people who are not letting you be consistent.
For instance- You are studying and daily at the same time you are hungry and you get up to eat. Now you can’t sit again because your rhythm is disturbed.
Similarly, your friend comes to your place or calls you daily while you are performing your task.
Just acknowledge and accept the situation for now.
Act
Once you have acknowledged it becomes easy to act and throw away the distractions.
Let’s say from the above example- you can first eat and then start your study slot.
And for people you need to set your boundaries and be ready to say no.
Half of the job is completed here only.
Forming micro habits
Don’t start with big tasks to be consistent and don’t even limit your consistency to big tasks. What I mean to say is start with small habits as well, example-
starting a skincare routine and being consistent with this.
Eating salad everyday.
Drinking hot water or green tea at night.
These micro habits help to build consistency in your routine.
Have a record
From day one start to write what you will do and by the end of the day what you have achieved. So even after 3-4 days you will know yes I did it that day and I can do it today also. Looking at your records will give you a sense of accomplishment and you will be able to achieve more. And remember consistency is beautiful .
You can use sticky notes, diaries, go for digital apps etc..
Don’t wait for results
When people are unable to see the results they often give up, this is one of the main reasons for being inconsistent. You need to remember one thing for this- you are not the same person as yesterday, you are always growing.
In the start the visible results may be micro or negligible but wait for the threshold point and then boom.
Partner up
For many people consistency is boring when you try it alone so include your friends or loved ones and start a challenge with them or go to the same classes.
Like- initially going to gym alone, you may not go but with your friends you will go easily.
Don’t give up on yourself and even on your routine
Many times when we are not in our surroundings or we are enjoying ourselves, we often tell our mind ‘let it be I won’t go to the gym’ or ‘I will not revise what i have studied today’ and the whole day is wasted.
Don’t ever make your mind give up on your routine completely. Also try to do at least half the things which you have planned. This will make you feel proud of yourself and the consistency won’t be broken.
If you don’t follow this then the next day you will also do the same thing and the day after it will be the same. Be wise and have fun.
All these habits will help you to be consistent and may definitely change your game.
Time for the BONUS TIP
You can use time lapse on your phone and record yourself while performing the tasks, this will help you record your progress and whenever you feel like giving up watch those videos you recorded and start again.
